People present:
Lauren Neighbour,
Thomas Brown,

Matters Discussed:
Thomas to hand out actors call sheets to correct people. This is so that all of the extras needed will be where they need to be as and when we need them.
Lauren to improve shot list and make sure everything is correct so that when we are filming we know exactly what we are supposed to be doing and to make sure that everything flows smoothly.
Annie to improve on storyboard and work with Lauren to compare storyboard and shot list, again meaning that when we are filming we know exactly what is happening and what needs to be in the scene.

FairField Pitch
To start off our pitch we used our stimulus as the background. Our idea was at the beginning of our trailer the camera will zoom through a key hole into the asylum reception.
This keyhole is our stimulus, about what happens behind the lock doors of an asylum.
Our initial idea is as follows, we came up with this idea was wanted to make something different and relating to Misfits and Bedlam.
We have now chose that each flashback will be black and white with one element of red for example, red lips, red ribbon etc.
This was suggested to us in the feedback stage when someone pointed out how we would show the audience the difference between present time with flashback.
We chose sick bay because of the white, clinical feeling it gives you and the sterilised bins, The small plain rooms also gave us the feeling that you were in confinement and was cramped into a tiny corner.
Here are the reasons we chose the BBC and why we would want them to consider us to air our soap opera.
We have targeted this set audience for reasons which are as followed, not suitable for younger viewers and involved older viewers story lines for example, sexual abuse or drug abuse.
Here is when we wish to air our soap opera and also what times we want to fill it in.
However, from the feedback we have decided to either shorten each episode to 30 minutes or extend them to an hour depending on the characters story for that week.
Looking at the audience we are targeting, we conducted a questionnaire finding out who is more likely to watch a soap and also different age groups.
Our trailer will then end with out stimulus of the key hole again, after everyone's flashbacks and their own individual stories.

Character Profiles
Character Name: Jeffery Anderson
Age: 25 Years Old
Stereotype: Super Villain
Role: Sexually Abusive Boss
Played By: Kamen Walmsley
Costume: Black Shirt, Black Trousers and Red Tie.
Why we chose this: We chose this character to be in all black because it is a connotation of his darkness and evil. It also contrasts with the red emphasising the danger of his character.
We decided for him to be in smart wear due to him being the boss of those who work in the asylum but looking menacing because he uses his power to manipulate people.
Bit about the character: This characters is a sly, mysterious character who uses the power he has to manipulate other people within the asylum. There have been multiple occurrences of sexual abuse withing the work place.
Interests: Drinking issues, going out with his friends to the pub, a ladies man.
Marital Status: Single
Children: None.
........................................................................................................................................
Character Name: Stephen Jones
Age: 22 Years Old
Stereotype: Bungler
Role: Mental Patient
Played by: Tom Brown
Costume: Black Trousers, White T-shirt and Grey Hoodie
Why we chose this: We chose this because it is the stereotypical wear of a mental patient, the colour grey is a dull colour representing a mixed up mind,
We decided he would be in casual wear and the enclosed body position to show he is reluctant to open up and express his feelings.
Bit about the character: This character has been wrongly accused of being a mental patient. He is wrongly perceived as crazy, depressed whereas he is not insane and upset as he is stuck in asylum.
Interests: Reading, bird watching and wildlife documentaries
Marital Status: Married
Children: None

Character Name: Ava Banks
Age: 19 Years Old
Stereotype: The Underdog
Role: Mental Patient
Played by: Annie Penn
Costume; Long Grey T-Shirt
Why we chose this: It is the stereotypical wear of a patient in a mental asylum. The wear is loosely fitting representing what the women may have worn in a mental asylum.
We decided this again for the grey colouring but also the position she is in represents her mental state that she just wants to break free of the hurt and anger she has been building up for her past.
Bit about the character: Sweet and innocent until she caught her finance cheating on her, from there she became depressed and attempted to commit suicide. This is the cause for her being in the asylum as her finance admitted her as he was worried for her life.
Interests: Greek Mythology, Drawing.
Marital Status: Engaged
Children: None

Character Name: Elsa Regbo
Character Name: Elsa Regbo
Age: 21 Years Old
Stereotype: The Vamp
Role: Nurse at Asylum
Played by: Lauren Neighbour
Costume: Red/Black Dress and Lab Coat
Why we chose this: We chose Lauren to be in the red dress to represent seduction, danger and lust, this highlights her stereotype as the vamp.
We chose her in the lab coat to represent her being a nurse and her clinical position in the asylum.
Bit about the character: She is from a broken home and never had a supportive parent therefore she was put into foster care where she would act up and never got along with the other children, This lifestyle has impacting her to taken drugs which has got out of hand.
Interests: Seducing people, manipulating men into doing what she wants then to.

Age: 23 Years Old
Stereotype: The Girl Next Door

Why we chose this: We chose for this costume as the black suggest the darkness in her soul which could be why she works in the asylum.

Interests: Music and looking after people

Song choices to be featured in trailer
Our initial favourite song for the trailer was a cover of Toxic by the Yael Naim. In our minds we plan to slow down the song to half the speed and lower the pitch to create an eerie effect that leaves people subconsciously wanting more and draws them to the edge of their seats.
Similarly the background noise of the song enforces the idea of a broken mind and the melody cuts out multiple times.
Problems with this song are that the sections would be very difficult to edit together and harmonise for example the start of the song and the end.
We like the beginning of the song Gods and Monsters by Lana Del Ray and the first verse as the lyrics link closely to our theme and ideas of the plot however the song features explicit content that would be unsuitable for our project.
Overall the title of the song Creep, covered by Vega Choir is very suitable for our piece, and the choir effect is good for creating another eerie effect that we were desiring. Initially we wanted to take certain sections of the song and slow it down and lower the pitch.
This song is not the composition we would like to use for our trailer due to the fact it takes a while to crescendo when we need mutiple crescendos with each characters flashback.
The lyrics of Fix you by Vega Choir once again fit well with the plot and the choir effect creates an eerie atmosphere. However the melody is too sweet sounding for our piece and does not suit the plot.
Ain't No Sunshine by Coeur De Pirate is our favourite song for our soap opera trailer because the speed is perfect and will work well with the slow motion scenes and flashbacks. With this song we feel a crescendo is not needed as once again the melody cuts out in the background and enforces the idea of a broken mind. The lyrics themselves match to the emotions evoked from our plot as they invoke a sense of being trapped in world without hope or the light of your life.
After filming has finished and we have begun editing the recordings together we are going to experiment with both Toxic and Ain't No Sunshine as they are our favourites and as a group we are going to come to a verdict after the sound and video are played together.

American soap opera case study
Days of Our Lives
Days of Our Lives is an American soap opera, shown during
the daytime on the NBC television network, created by husband and wife team,
Ted Corday and Betty Corday. Being associated to many countries around the
world, it is one of the longest running scripted television programs, showing
every weekday since November 8, 1965. On April 21, 1975, as the show itself was
becoming increasingly successful, its episodes were expanded from 30 minutes to
60 minutes.
