Song choices to be featured in trailer

Our initial favourite song for the trailer was a cover of Toxic by the Yael Naim. In our minds we plan to slow down the song to half the speed and lower the pitch to create an eerie effect that leaves people subconsciously wanting more and draws them to the edge of their seats.

Similarly the background noise of the song enforces the idea of a broken mind and the melody cuts out multiple times.

Problems with this song are that the sections would be very difficult to edit together and harmonise for example the start of the song and the end.

We like the beginning of the song Gods and Monsters by Lana Del Ray and the first verse as the lyrics link closely to our theme and ideas of the plot however the song features explicit content that would be unsuitable for our project.

Overall the title of the song Creep, covered by Vega Choir is very suitable for our piece, and the choir effect is good for creating another eerie effect that we were desiring. Initially we wanted to take certain sections of the song and slow it down and lower the pitch.

This song is not the composition we would like to use for our trailer due to the fact it takes a while to crescendo when we need mutiple crescendos with each characters flashback.

The lyrics of Fix you by Vega Choir once again fit well with the plot and the choir effect creates an eerie atmosphere. However the melody is too sweet sounding for our piece and does not suit the plot.

Ain't No Sunshine by Coeur De Pirate is our favourite song for our soap opera trailer because the speed is perfect and will work well with the slow motion scenes and flashbacks. With this song we feel a crescendo is not needed as once again the melody cuts out in the background and enforces the idea of a broken mind. The lyrics themselves match to the emotions evoked from our plot as they invoke a sense of being trapped in world without hope or the light of your life.

After filming has finished and we have begun editing the recordings together we are going to experiment with both Toxic and Ain't No Sunshine as they are our favourites and as a group we are going to come to a verdict after the sound and video are played together.
